The Mandel5 bio picture

Welcome to the Mandel 5!

Thanks for stopping by our little world.  There is never a dull moment in this house with Rob's teaching jobs, my part-time teaching and part-time photography, three busy kids, and more pets than we need.  Check out the links above to read my friends' blogs, find old posts, or get in touch with me.

halloween eve

The kids did not get to go to school in their costumes for the first time ever.  They had a pajama day instead.  No costume parade.    It’s always one of my favorite things.  But we made up for it at Grace’s Halloween party tonight at her new house!

getting ready for halloween!

We made these Halloween shirts last night.  I guess bleach turns a black shirt orange – perfect!
Grantie made pillow cases for the kids – thank you!!

Logan and I went on a turtle walk Tuesday to look for turtles in the lake.

the patch

Even though we have our carving pumpkins, we had to take a trip to the local pumpkin patch or it wouldn’t feel like Halloween.  We met some friends there after school today.

Since my kids spent the last four days in hospital waiting rooms and pharmacy lines, I decided to take them to Disneyland today (they didn’t have school).  We met Andrea and her girls there and had a great time!
Picture of a screen but had to share cuz it’s hilarious.

Nathan

Well, we spent the day in Santa Monica with Nathan’s doctors.  Not a lot of answers.  His surgeon said she did not recommend any kind of surgery on the nose at his age because he’s still growing and it’s likely the problem would reoccur.  She and the pediatrician we saw today kept saying it seems...

surgery was a success!

Little Buddy did great today getting the pin out of his arm.  It was a very long morning of waiting – getting there at 8:30 and not actually going into the OR till 12:30.  Logan played legos, read books, watched tv, talked on the phone,  did hangman, math problems, word searches, colored, and sang to...

what we know so far

Day one is done.  Megan stayed home with Grandma Verna and rode her scooter around like she wasn’t sick.  She’s going back to school tomorrow.
Nathan had allergy tests today.  He is not allergic enough to anything to impair his breathing or need medicine (CAN YOU IMAGINE IF HE WERE ALLERGIC TO CATS?).  He’s slightly allergic...
